DIY Halloween Costumes

Do It Yourself (DIY) Halloween costumes 2015

Are you procrastinating your Halloween costume this year? Or, do you not know what to be this year? Well, we have the solution for you! Here are some pretty cool costumes that you can put together this year that are both creative and easy.

1.       Unicorn
Contributed by: Emma Newbaker

To rock this first costume, you will need a white type of shirt. Any white shirt would be perfectly fine depending on the weather. Next, you’ll need a pair of white tights to go under your rainbow tutu. Now, for the tutu you can either buy one or make one. You can make one by taking an elastic strap and measuring your waist. Then, take tool and wrap it around the elastic strip. BAM! There ya go.

Lastly, take a poster board; wrap it up in a cone shape like a unicorn horn. Then, cut off the side that’s open to make it even, and decorate it to your very best! There’s your unicorn!

2.       Mario and Luigi
Contributed by: Emma Newbaker
I did this one myself with my friend Haley for last Halloween and it was a very simple process.  What you need to do is get a red and green shirt and some red and green ribbon if you don’t have an already made bow. Next, you will need some blue suspenders and some large yellow buttons. Then, you will need a blue tutu along with some red and green knee high socks. Last, you will need a paper cut out of an M and an L. Of course, if you can’t grow a mustache of your own, draw one on your finger or get some mustaches and put it on a stick.

3.       Minnie Mouse

This will be my Halloween costume for 2015! It’s pretty simple and easy, and you can get all of these items from your closet or your local Party City or Wal-Mart! First, you want to start off with a black top. It can be a long sleeve shirt, short sleeve shirt, or tank top if you want. Next, you’ll need a red tutu! Although, if you aren’t a tutu person, you can wear red shorts as well.

Now, for shoes, you can wear black Converse or any other black shoes. For the finishing touches, you need the makeup (optional) and the most important, the Minnie mouse ears!! There you have it!

4.       Flo from Progressive
Contributed by: Lillie McMaster

For the iconic Flo from Progressive, it’s really simple. Let’s start with the hair. You will need a blue ribbon or head band, and your hair should flow upwards at the ends. (Get it? FLOW? No? Okay…) You’ll need a white t-shirt under a white apron that has “Progressive” written in blue sharpie on the front. You could also print out the Progressive logo online and tape it to your apron.  Next, make a name tag that says “Flo” on it, with orange and blue on the top like it is in the picture. Also, you need white jeans to finish the look off.

5.       M&Ms
Contributed by: Lillie McMaster

This one is very self-explanatory. Each one of you and your friends will need a different colored t-shirt. Then, draw and cut out a white “M” and tape it onto your shirt. You could also get transfer paper from your local craft store to print the logo on.  Then, simply follow the instructions on how to iron the transfer onto the shirt.  Finally, you can all agree on a type of pants and shoes to complete the outfit.

6.        Pretty Little Liars
Contributed by: Presley Fowler

If you’re a Pretty Little Liars fan, you’ll like this a lot.  For all four outfits you will need four different black short dresses. Next, you’ll need black netted tights for the antique look. Now, you will need to curl your like shown in the picture.  For makeup, stick with a dark eye and a nude lip.  To complete the straight out of the grave look, take dirt or fake dirt/mud and rub it on you to look like the girls in the pictures.

We hope you like these DIY Halloween costumes! If you use any of these, post it to your Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #Fall2015CTMS!

Do It Yourself Fall Crafts

Fall is arriving, and what better ways to start the season with new do it yourself, (DIY), decorations? We have two cute seasonal crafts that will help you spice up your room. They’re super easy, and we know you’ll love them.

Mason Jar Candle Holder

For this craft you will need a Mason jar, fake leaves, a paint brush, Mod Podge, and a tea light candle. You can find all of these supplies on Amazon or at your local craft store. For all of the supplies, you can expect to pay about 15 dollars.

Steps
1.   Grab a Mason jar and fake leaves. Take the fake leaves off the stems. You can do this by cutting them or just pulling them off.
2.   Take the Mod Podge and a brush and brush it all over the outside of the jar. Take the leaves and stick it on the Mod Podge.
3.   Take a tea light candle and put it in the jar.
4.   Let the leaves dry on the jar and then you can light your candle.

 Fall Pillow Cases

For this craft you will need a white pillow case, brown and orange fabric paint, tape, a paint brush, and a stencil of an owl, pumpkin, or anything fall related. You can find all of these supplies on Amazon or at your local craft store. For all of the supplies, you can expect to pay about 20 dollars or under.

Steps

1. Take your pillow case and tape your stencil to it.
2. Paint inside the stencil.
3. Wait for the paint to dry.
4. Take the tape and stencil off when the paint is dry. Now you’re ready to put your fall pillow case on your pillow.
